13.3Reading an answer: sources and how it was answered
When you receive a response in Bmator, you can verify its contents, review the material that informed it, and inspect how the system processed your query.
Checking sources
Directly beneath each answer, Bmator lists the specific sources consulted to generate the text. These may include documents, emails, saved answers, or datasets. Selecting any listed source opens the original item.
- If a referenced source was modified after the answer was generated, it is flagged as stale.
- If the system's knowledge graph connected a source to your question via people or organisations you know, the answer explains this connection by noting that it was found through your connections.
- If no documents or records were used, the response is marked General knowledge — not from your documents.
Reviewing answer details and retrieval
You can inspect the underlying mechanics of any generated response by viewing How this was answered.
- Open How this was answered beneath the response.
- Review the search query used to find the source material.
- Check which documents were sent to the model and how much content was included from each.
- Verify whether your budget cut any material from the context sent to the model.
Confidence ratings and broadening searches
When your workspace contains sufficient historical data, an answer may display a confidence note indicating low or partial confidence alongside the reason for that assessment.
When an answer displays low confidence, you can select Search more broadly. This performs an additional search query to look for relevant information across a wider scope.
Providing feedback
You can grade each response or mark whether it was helpful or not helpful. Submitting this feedback directly tunes the retrieval system for future questions in the workspace.
