8.1Writing and finding notes

Available in:EnglishFrançais

Notes allow you to capture thoughts, format text with headings and lists, and keep reference information handy. Only you can view a note until you decide to share it.

Creating and editing a note

To begin writing, open the Notes page and follow these steps:

  1. Select New note.
  2. Enter a title for your note.
  3. Type your text directly into the editor.

A note saves on its own a moment after you stop typing. Next to the title, an indicator shows the current status:

  • Saving… indicates that changes are being written.
  • Saved confirms that your text is safely stored.
  • Not saved — retrying means a save failed. The text remains in your editor, so nothing is lost while the system attempts to save again.

Organising with labels

Under the title of a Note, you can assign labels to organise your writing. These labels are the same ones used in your personal workspace and its Labels settings.

  • To add a label, choose an existing one or type a new name.
  • To create a nested label, include a forward slash, such as clients/acme.
  • When you share a note, recipients can view the assigned labels but cannot alter them.

Finding notes

The list on the Notes page shows each note's title, its opening words, the time it was last modified, and its assigned labels. Notes included in the knowledge base display the knowledge-base mark across the site; hovering over this mark indicates that Ask Bmator and other AI features can use the note's content. Shared items also show a Shared mark.

To locate specific notes, use any of the following tools:

  • Search box: Type terms to filter the list directly.
  • Ownership filter: Switch between Mine to view your own notes and Shared with me to view notes others have shared with you.
  • Labels filter: Select a label to show matching notes. Selecting a parent label also returns notes filed beneath it in the hierarchy.
  • Global search: Use the global search bar across Bmator to locate your notes from anywhere in the platform.
