Workspaces organize your data, processes, and documents in Bmator. Everything you upload or create lives inside a specific workspace.

Every account automatically receives a personal workspace. This workspace carries your own name, has only you as a member, and cannot be deleted. In the workspace switcher, it is marked Personal.

Navigating workspaces

The workspace switcher in the top bar controls which workspace most pages display. Opening this switcher displays a menu headed Switch Workspace.

In the Library, every workspace appears as its own root in the navigation tree. In addition, Shared with me appears as a separate root to display files and folders that other users have shared directly with you.

Creating a shared workspace

You can create shared workspaces to collaborate with colleagues.

  1. Open the workspace switcher in the top bar under Switch Workspace and select the option at the end of the menu to create a workspace, or select New workspace in the Library.
  2. Enter a name for the workspace.
  3. Optionally, invite teammates with the role of Member or Admin.

Managing workspace settings, members, and invitations

To view settings for a workspace, open its details from the Library to navigate to the Workspace page.

  • The Members tab lists everyone who belongs to the workspace along with their assigned role. Workspace administrators can select Invite members to add people or select Remove from workspace to remove an existing member.
  • The Invitations tab lists pending invitations that have not yet been accepted. For any pending invite, you can select Resend to send the email again, Copy link to copy the invitation URL, or Revoke to cancel the invite.

Workspace membership versus shared items

There is a key difference between belonging to a workspace and accessing shared items:

  • Workspace membership: As a member of a workspace, you can see all documents and assets stored in that workspace according to your assigned role.
  • Shared items: When another user shares an individual item with you without adding you as a workspace member, you see only that specific item under Shared with me.

Subsequent chapters explain how to share individual items and manage access permissions.
