15.2Creating a service

Services
Available in:EnglishFrançais

A service is a box on your page that runs one of your processes on whatever a visitor drops on it, such as a document or a message. It can run a task, a question list for scoring, or a workflow. Because a Solution requires structured inputs and cannot run from a dropped document, choose a task, question list, or workflow instead. You need the process first; your public page links to where you create one.

To set up a service, navigate to New service and complete the configuration sections described below.

Basics

Under Basics, enter the service name, a short pitch that appears on its box, and a detailed description displayed on its dedicated page.

What it runs

In the What it runs section, select the specific task, question list, or workflow that will execute whenever someone submits content.

Who can submit

The Who can submit section manages availability through two controls:

  1. Select an option under Visibility:
    • Private: Nobody can submit. This is the default setting; a new service refuses every submission until you change it.
    • Unlisted: Anyone with the direct link can submit.
    • Public: Anyone can submit, and the service can be listed in the service directory.
  2. Use Active to switch the service on or off.

What happens on a drop

Configure how submissions are handled under What happens on a drop:

  • Before it runs: Choose whether to approve each submission yourself or let it run automatically once the submitter confirms their email address.
  • When it finishes: Decide what happens to the output. You can keep results to yourself, email them to the submitter automatically, or release each one yourself. Only the last two options ever reach the submitter.

Workspace the run happens in

Specify the Workspace the run happens in. The credits of this selected workspace pay for every run, including any file conversion.

Limits and budget readout

Set guardrails for usage under Limits:

  1. Define the maximum allowed file size.
  2. Specify the maximum number of submissions allowed per day.
  3. Enter an amount in Spend cap (EUR) to restrict the most this service may spend over 30 days. Leaving this blank applies the platform defaults.

The budget readout shows what limits are currently in force and what has already been spent. Note that when your remaining workspace credit is lower than the cap, your credit is what limits the service.
