13Ask Bmator
Ask Bmator answers questions using your own business material, including documents, emails, meeting reports, and saved answers. Every response identifies the specific sources used, allowing you to check each claim against the original text.
Important principles
To understand how Ask Bmator retrieves information and avoid unexpected results, keep three core rules in mind:
- One workspace at a time: Answers are drawn from a single workspace, along with any material explicitly shared with you if you include shared items. Content stored in other workspaces is not searched.
- Indexed material only: The system can only retrieve information from files and entries that have completed conversion and indexing. Unindexed files are invisible to the search process.
- Clear source boundaries: If an answer requires information beyond your indexed files, the response will state that it extends past your documents rather than guessing.
In this guide
Explore the following sections to set up, query, and manage your knowledge base:
- What Ask Bmator reads, and who else it can read for: Learn which file types are supported, how workspace permissions work, and how shared content is handled.
- Asking a question: How to frame queries clearly to retrieve precise answers.
- Reading an answer: sources and how it was answered: How to review citations, inspect referenced excerpts, and understand reasoning traces.
- When an answer is missing or weak: Steps to troubleshoot incomplete results, missing files, or ambiguous questions.
- Answer settings and what an answer costs: How configuration options affect output detail, token usage, and processing credits.
- Keeping answers: conversations, knowledge and documents: Methods for saving answers, managing ongoing threads, and turning outputs into reusable documentation.
